【パープルハートの特徴】
パープルハートウッドは、中南米原産の広葉樹で、その名の通り鮮やかな紫色が特徴の希少な木材です。木質は非常に硬く重く、耐久性・耐水性に優れており、加工後も高い強度を保ちます。
切り出した直後は明るい紫色をしていますが、時間の経過や紫外線の影響により、徐々に赤紫から深い茶紫色へと変化していきます。この経年変化も、パープルハートの大きな魅力の一つです。
また、表面には自然な艶があり、磨き上げることでさらに美しく光沢のある仕上がりになります。この艶やかで個性的な見た目から、装飾品や高級家具、楽器などに使用される木材です。

[Features of Purpleheart]
Purpleheart wood is a broadleaf hardwood native to Central and South America, known for its striking violet hue, true to its name. The wood is exceptionally dense and heavy, offering outstanding durability and water resistance, while maintaining high strength even after processing.

When freshly cut, it exhibits a bright purple color, which gradually transforms into shades of reddish-purple and eventually a deep, dark brownish-purple over time due to natural aging and exposure to ultraviolet light. This graceful change in color is considered one of the wood’s most appealing characteristics.

Additionally, Purpleheart has a natural luster on its surface, which can be further enhanced through polishing, resulting in a radiant, glossy finish. Owing to its distinctive appearance and sheen, it is often used in decorative items, fine furniture, and musical instruments.

Cracks do not affect structural integrity, but if the appearance is a concern, applying beeswax (sold separately) can help protect the surface.
